To the Smith-Shimano Corpro, all sources of knowledge exist first to be exploited.

The Atlas frame was a study in field-capable miniaturization before it became a vanity project for the Baronies; the Black Witch was a stride into combat-application EM weaponry, and the Mourning Cloak was the sons and daughters of the Constellar taking their first fingerholds within the Firmament.

However, it was only when a SSC Parapsychology research team discovered fragmentary blueprints of the GMS Enkidu’s neural interfacing that all of these lessons found a home within a single frame.

With the benefit of five hundred and fifty years of technological advancement, and research into hormone replacement and neuromanipulation, Parapsychology and ExMat curated not only a pilot-chassis interface system designed to motivate precise and overwhelming aggression, but a line of NHP subjectivities to imprint that pain onto the Firmament itself in service of greater battlefield impact. It is the sincere belief of the Swordgrass design team that their project represents a modernization and the furthest possible refinement of the work that began with the Enkidu, given a suite of artisan-crafted survivability and offensive tools to translate suffering into art instead of butchery.

At least, that is their belief.

The reality of the situation proved substantially different to such high-minded ideals; enough so to provoke cancellation concerns from the Risk Management division. Such concerns were assuaged by the fact that the only difference between the design’s combat efficiency goals and its in-field performance was in how far it surpassed expectations.

Often, the mark of a Constellar special operations agent issued a Swordgrass frame is their reaction to the taste of cherries. Research had shown, after all, that the after-action sedatives would be more palatable if they tasted of fruit.
